November Book Club: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
Join us for our November book club discussion of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. For this meeting, we’ll be reading and discussing Angelou’s 1969 memoir, a powerful work of American literature about childhood, identity, trauma, resilience, and finding one’s voice.
Through vivid storytelling and honest reflection, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings follows Angelou’s early life and the experiences that shaped her as a writer, thinker, and witness to the world around her. Readers are welcome to come ready to share their thoughts, favorite passages, questions, and reflections from the reading.
Meetings take place at Addison’s on the last Wednesday of each month, unless it interferes with a holiday, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The cost is $5, and attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. If you would like to participate, read the book and join us!
