September Book Club: Palace Walk by Naguib Mahfouz

Join us for our September book club discussion of Palace Walk by Naguib Mahfouz. For this meeting, we’ll be reading and discussing Mahfouz’s 1956 novel, the first book in The Cairo Trilogy.

Set in early 20th-century Cairo, Palace Walk follows one family through private tensions, changing traditions, generational conflict, and the larger social shifts unfolding around them. Readers are welcome to come ready to share their thoughts, favorite passages, questions, and reflections from the reading.

Meetings take place at Addison’s on the last Wednesday of each month, unless it interferes with a holiday, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The cost is $5, and attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. If you would like to participate, read the book and join us!
